I'm Back

Hey everyone!! I know i haven't posted anything in a really long time, and I'm really sorry! School has sucked up my time, and with cross country and basketball i barely have enough time to do my homework! But now with it being winter break, i figured it would be a great time to write a post.
One thing that i was able to finally do was reorganize my craft area, I think it looks a lot nicer and it's now more organized, too.
We also got like 6 inches of snow last night, so here's a picture to explain why I'm inside and not out...

Nothing else has really gone on around here. It's nice to finally be on break and to not have to worry about homework every single day! I've got nothing else to say, so goodbye everyone! And have a nice break!

Hey everyone!! Sorry about not posting in 2 months!!! I've been super busy with school starting, cross country, and other stuff. I have some GREAT news!!! I made Varsity Cross Country!! :D :D :D :D!! I am sooo happy!! We have our first meet on Saturday, and i am super scared. School started about 2 weeks ago, and it's better then i expected. I thought going to a new (bigger) school would be hard and confusing, but it really isn't that bad!! I actually like it a lot better then my old school! I haven't been able to get any crafting done, because i've been so busy. But on my trip to montreal this summer i did finish my first sock!!!!

I am so proud of it!! It was easier then i thought and it went by really quickly!! I went the Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair in July, it was awesome!! I bought some sock yarn and died my own in a class! (Pictures coming soon.) I also just finished cleaning my closet, because it got REALLY disorganized over the summer. That's it for now!!

Spring-- er Summer Cleaning!

At the beginning of the summer my crafting mojo started to kick in again, so i went down to my craft table and found this.

Now I'm debating with myself. "Should I clean this? I mean it's not that bad." Then my mind started to kick in and said, " Actually, it is that bad." Then i said, "Yeah I am going to clean this." And i did!!! After a couple of hours i see some improvement!!!Almost Done!!!!!

Done!

Now i can craft with a peace of mind!!! The clutter was pretty bad now that i look at the pictures, so i'm so glad i cleaned it!!!

Summer 2009 Goals!

So over at Ravelry, a group called Teens Knit and Crochet had a great idea for us to list our goals for the summer of 2009!!! Here's the list that i came up with!

I like this idea! At the end of summer break, I can see if I achieved al of my goals.

Volenteer (maybe my library or local animal shelter)
Sew some sort of dress. i am working my way to that goal already! I just finished pj pants and now am working on an apron!
Earn some money. I am saving up to buy some nice yarn at my local yarn store. I have never knitted/crocheted w/ alpaca or silk or cashmere… ect.
Read. I love to read but sometimes my mind will wonder too much and therefore I can’t concentrate.
Garden. I would like to grow some herbs, vegtebals, and some flowers.
Exercise. I usually run in the summer, but I would like to do a little more like run and bike or run and lift weights.
Blog more. I have been a pretty bad blogger. I sometimes go 2 weeks without posting.
Eat Healthier. As the end of school comes closer, my eating habits tend to worsen. I sometimes end up eating cookies for breakfast.! (oops ;)
Less T.V. and computer. I realize that I spend most of my time on the weekends watching T.V. and playing on the computer. I hope to change that because I need to get out and breath in some fresh air every now and then.
Start a fair isle project. I have always been afraid of totally screwing it up, but now if it is summer, I will have time to take my time. :)
Keep up my basketball skills!
Journal for some of the summer.

I've already reached some of my goals, and it seems like I am on the road towards success! At the end of the summer, i am gonna read this list again and see how i did. I will post my results at the end of the summer.

I don't really know what the title should be, so i just put a heart. I feel bad, i am a horrible blogger!!! I haven't blogged in like 2 months!!! Since my last post, school has been let out, and summer has come in!!!!! It's already the middle of the summer!!!! I am doing this cross-country camp at my high school, which is a lot of fun. I also did a basketball camp, but that's over (which was tons of fun too!). The summer's been pretty fun, camps-wise, but other times, it can get really lonely. Last year, my "friends" talked about me behind my back, telling each other that I shouldn't knit or crochet, that I shouldn't wear things that i've made to school. They seemed embarrassed to be around me because of what i'd wear to school. I never really had clothes that "fit the bill". I have barely any clothes that i can call my own. I am usually wearing my sister's old clothes that aren't in style anymore. It bothers me that i know i don't have any friends because of what i look like on the outside.

About 12 days ago, my beloved science teacher passed way. He suffered a heart attack and died. It seems so surreal, right now. I feel like I'm almost in denial about it. Like i could still go visit him at school. I viewed him as an adult that was MEANT to be teaching. He could connect with his classes. Students wanted to do well, they looked forward to his class. He was a go-lucky-guy, he had a great sense of humor (especially with his fart machine at teacher meetings!) :D!!! He has kept a special place in all of our hearts, that'll never fade away. He was like a candle, using his life to light the way for others.

My knitting, crocheting, and sewing has been hibernating and i don't know why... I just don't feel as proud of it anymore. Maybe because everyone i know says i should stop because it's "not cool"... I don't know.

Happy 4th of July. I marched in the parade with my band, but the bells are really heavy, and my back started to hurt halfway through.

Fabulous Fo's

Well, I finished a couple Fo's since my last posting, so I thought I might share them with you!! First off, I finished this crocheted clutch. I saw the pattern somewhere on Ravelry. Here's the link to my projects if you are interested in trying it out. It was really fun, and a great way to use up some leftover yarn!

I crocheted this star dishcloth out of this yarn and it was a gift (Easter) for my sister who's in college!
I knitted this Ribbed Laced Bolero for myself, and It actually turned out really well!! The color goes with just about everything and it's fun to show off :D! (Like most things!)

Finally, I made this dishcloth as a mothers day present while I was sick. My mom loved it!! She said "It was too pretty to use." She agreed to use it as a hot pad :). It's just some repeating little bears!!
I also got a new camera for my birthday, finally!!!! It has 12.1 mega pixels and is really good at focusing on detail. It's this camera in the pretty blue color from Canon.

I am excited that school is almost over, I am soooo in the need for a break!! My teachers just pile on the homework and projects!!! My sister came home from college for the weekend, which was exciting, but she spent most of her time studying for finals.

I am still alive

Sorry about kinda falling off the face of the earth, Easter came around and then my birthday, and BIG projects in school, and then I was sick. I did get some crafting done, but I'll post that in a different post.
I am proud to say that I entered track and my mile was 6:43!! That's my personal best!
I am thinking about changing the colors a little bit, what do you think? I am tosing around the idea of like a bright summer, spring color combo.

Feeling a little Pessimistic

Well, today I am feeling a little pessimistic. So I decided to write some positive things that happened in my day today.

Spring Break is over, and school has started up again. That means I have something productive to do. (besides crafting in front of the computer)
I got to show off my new haircut to everyone (sorry, no pic, mom's rule)
I got to show off my new knitted shrug (that I made) and my new beret ( I also made, pics comming soon).
I finally had someone to talk to. (Everyone went away to mexico ect.)
Lastly, my friend got me a scarf from London when she went there last week (YAY!!)

I should be studying for my 56 WORD VOCAB TEST (WITH SPELLING) for Spanish. (I can't believe my teacher expects us to memorize 56 words and their spelling for tomarrow! I don't even know what's on the test. I know I have to memorize the 56 vocab words, but what about the 20 or so phrases? Screw that, I am just gonna study the vocab words, what can she expect from us anyways? On the bright side, I was able to get a lot crafting done over break, I probably knitted and crocheted like 3 miles of yarn over Spring break. (Pictures next time, I am too, lazy and tired to take any right now.). Of coarse, it has to snow like 10 inches this morning!!! For god's sake, it's April, the snowy weather is over!!! Please, at least grant us with a snow day, if it's gonna snow!!! I'll post some pictures of my FOs in the next couple of days.

I also finished my Ribbed lace Bolero! It was on my needles for like six months, but I finially got it done! Here a pic!

Guinea Pig Adventures!!

Did I ever tell you I have a guinea pig? Well I do and her name is Nutmeg. Yesturday Spring had finally arived and we had a little adventure outside. I took many pictures!!!

She's like "what ya lookin at?" :)

She's sniffing our magnolia tree. She really likes the shade, as you can tell be this next picture.

She was acting crazy when I took this picture!! She was trying to eat something..... I think.

Running around, enjoying the fresh air, eating the grass.

After I put her back in her cage I ate some lunch, and went back down to make sure she had enough to eat. When I looked in her little housey, she was fast asleep!! I mean ASLEEP! She didn't even wake up when I accidently bumped the cage! I guess this adventure was a lot of fun and energy-consuming!!! I got to go and start my homework!!!! Till next time...

Hey everybody!! I'm back! I was sick the 10, 11, and 12. I had some sort of Flu/cold thing, basically I was sleeping bed the whole time. When I wasn't sleeping, I was crafting or eating :). I Haven't blogged in like forever because I was catching up on make-up work. I finally handed in everything on Friday! Here are some of the crafting creations I have made since I last posted!!

If you can't tell, this is a paw print dishcloth I made! I used Sugar 'n Cream yarn. It turned out very nice, and the yarn worked well in my hands! The color, I believe, is soft ecru. I really like that color becuase it isn't so blinding as regular white, and if I do use this, I won't be able to tell if it is dirty or not! It'll look brand new each time! ;)

This is a sewing machine dishcloth. All of my these patterns I use, I get of off Ravelry. This dishcloth is made from the same yarn and is a light purple color. This is probably my favorite of them all because it ties in my two faverite crafts! Yarn and needle crafting!!

My last dishcloth is of a dog house and is made, again, from Sugar 'n Cream yarn. I had a bunch in my stash and wanted to use it up. The color is called Hot blue. (How creative... not :) This one took me the longest for some reason....

I also finished my mom's crocheted market bag!! It was taking forever, but I finally got er done!! I ran out of cotton, so I had to use bits and pieces from my stash. I still like the way it turned out though!! My mom loves it too! I will get a picture of it next time my mom goes to the groceruy store.

One last point before i sign off. I am so happy February is basically over!! I need a break from the snow! I am ready to see the blooming buds on crabapple trees!! It rained like crazy these past two days!! I am so happy!!

O!!! Wait!! One more thing! I got some Elton John, Billy Joel Tickets!!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!! I can NOT wait to go!!!!

1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? No. My mom and dad just really liked the name.
2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED? I would say a couple days ago. My social life isn't the best right now. A lot of people tease me a leave me out. I sometimes cry myself to sleep.
3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING? I like my hand writing. I think it is pretty neat, and i tend to curl the ends of letters, which looks pretty cool.
4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT? Is chicken one? If not turkey.
5. DO YOU HAVE KIDS? No. I do have a guinea pig though
6. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU? YES! I find my self pretty entertaining. I am pretty fun and look at the glass half full!

Purple

The color purple. It is the juice of my favorite berry, the sparkle in my ring, and the color of my favorite yarn. Purple has this almost deep soothing feeling to it. It seems to lure me in wherever I am. I also love to color and crochet with it!

Purple seems to calm me down, it has this Serene quality to it.

Although this flower is very bright, I can't help but be calm while looking at it.

I like the color purple, although it is not my favorite color, I feel relaxed (most of the time) while around it. Onto my latest FOs, I finished 3 hats, 2 baby bibs, and some hand warmers. The best part is, that all of the projects are made from yarn that was in my stash!!

First, My hand warmers, very simple, I finished them in under 3 hours.

This hat I actually finished the same day I finished my had warmers. Both took under 1 night to finish.

This red hat ended up being a little big because i tried it with a bigger hook. It still like it though and have worn it out in public a few times.

This hat I made for a girl at school that asked me to make her one. She saw me wearing mine and went ballistic!!! So, I decided to make her one. All three of these hats are made from the same pattern.

Finally, I made this baby bib, just for the heck of it. I had some extra cotton yarn and didn't know what to do with it, so I made this. I thought the original was a little boring, so I added a little hand embroidered dog to it.

I have been crocheting up a storm here!! That's all I have made so far, I'll see ya'll next time!!

Sorry about not blogging in a while, I have been super busy with school. Our 2nd quarter just ended and I had all of these tests and junk to do. On top of that I have standarized testing in a little bit so we have been doing extended responses ect. I have decided to do this weekly posting thing, where I post about a different color each week. Happy New Year to all!! My New Year Resolutions include:
1. Eating Healthier (which includes eating out less)
2. Exerciseing more
3. Make some more friends
4. Use up some of my statsh of yarn!!

5. Be much nicer to my siblings. I can be pretty mean to them sometimes, and they deserve better.

6. Organize myself. My room is a pigsty. Clothes, papers, wrappers, and books are everywhere
7. Finally show the world who I really am, friendly, kind, nice, and sweet. ( I am not trying to brag, trust me)

Cookies and cupcakes!!

Just a quick post about my baking habits lately. The Holiday season really puts me into the baking mood. I made some simple vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. I also made some shortbread cookies diped in chocolate sauce and sprinkles!!! They were delicious!! I made the cookies in a cookie press!!

Sorry about such a long wait!! I have been busy knitting up a storm!!!! Well to start off for Thanksgiving was fun!!! I made some of these hairclips (sorry no picture) I helped set the table!!

We also got snow!!! (A couple days after thanksgiving)

I managed to knit 2 pairs of mittens, sew some headbands and finish my pj pants!!!

Here is one of the mittens I finished!! It is just a very simple stockinnet stitch mitten. I made one pair for myself and the other one for my big sister.

This baby bib I made for my teacher whose wife was expecting a baby. They really liked it and sent me a thank you card!!!

This crochet flower neclace took me like 10 minuets to make. It was super simple and easy to make!! I really like the way it turned out and will definaltly be making more in the near future. On the other hand it rained here. Hard. Our street and backyard flooded so bad that we couldn't even drive anywhere let alone walk. So I was stuck inside. All day. A full 24 hours. It was horrible. I was about ready to pluck my eyes out just because it was something to do. I had to go to the yarn store to get some yarn for my next project and we had apsolutely no food in the house!!! I mostly watched T.V. yesturday and played on the computer. Our power kept flickering on and off though so someimes my activities were interupted because my computer had to restart. That's is about it. It has been pretty borring around here so nothing spectacular to anounce to you guys...

I have to say, I am going a little nuts here. I have been stuck inside my house for more than 24 hours!! Our street it flooded to the point that we can not drive through it!! There is no food here, my mom was planning to go to the grocery store to day but couldn't. I have nothing to do. I need to go to the craft store to get some interfacing for my latest sewing project!!! Our power has been flickering on and off, therefore my computer has been turning on and off!! Hey you guys!!! Sorry about not posting for a while!! I have been super busy shopping and making Christmas gifts and on top of all of that I have a huge atom project due Monday January 5th. I have math finals the first week we get back from brake. I joined our schools new club!! Eco-club!!! It is a lot of fun, we make magazine bracelets and are designing a t-shirt for our club. On the plus side I am finally on winter break!!! I attended a sleepover party last night. I was so much fun!! We went to the mall and tried the ugliest dresses we could find. It was awesome!!! Sorry for the long delay in posting, I have been REALLY busy with projects!! My s.S. teacher assigned 2 projects that were due today, not to mention a thesis paper and a Spanish project.
Well I joined our school's new Eco-club!!!! It is totally awesome!! Their are about 20 kids in the club and what we do is each week we try do something that recycles reuses..etc. Well this week we collected old crayons, peeled them, separated them by color and then donated them to a company that makes into crayons for the differently-abled. We are also making our own dirt. We got some worms and every week we add some leftover food into the box of worms. We have already gotten a ton!!!
Unfortunately basketball ended last week. We lost our last game, but we earned second in our division!!! Now only if I could find my jersey and turn it in....
I have had no time to knit or crochet so I have nothing to show off today.

Washington D.C.!!!!

You won't believe me but I just won a large Vera Bradley duffel bag!!! I entered in a raffle and won!! I am so happy!! I really like the pattern/color of it too!! here's a picture of it...

My basketball team also won yesterday. I managed to score 2 baskets!!! I am very proud of myself. I was in 3 of the 4 quarters for the first time!
Halloween was fun. I got a medium amount of candy. My friends and I went trick-or-treating for about 3 hours. I didn't have a blast though because one of my "friends" kept whining and say things like "don't run" or "don't walk so fast" and "I don't eat junk food, I am giving away all of my candy". She had to say that right when I was eating a kit-kat. I will not be trick or treating with her again. She just sucks the life out of what ever room she walks into. For the entire time that I have known her I've never seen her smile. She is never happy.
On the bright side I finished sewing my first skirt ever!! (picture coming soon)
I am going on a field trip to Washington D.C. tomorrow. I have to be on the bus to the airport at 3:15 am. I am very excited. I of course packed some knitting and crocheting to do on the bus and airplane. I was not able to post very many pictures today because I packed my camera. We are staying at some nice hotel for 2 nights and we are required to use carry on. That is not hard for me because I am only packing the bare necessities.
I also managed to sew (and finish) my halloween costume. I was an angle. I thought it turned out to be really good,(again picture coming soon.)

Pretty Exciting!

How do you like the new look? I thought the old colors were a little dark and depressing. The lime green seemed brightened things up a bit.
To start off my basketball team has one 2 games so far!!! (out of like 6). We have already beaten our record from last year of winning only one game. My soccer team also won their game. The score was 5-0 us. I managed to score a goal this game!! I am so proud of myself!! I rarley score goals because I am mostly a defense-ive person. I have started a baby blanket for my basketball coach that just recently had a baby!!! Here is the pattern (Ravelry link). I like how it is in the shape of a star and when made with bright colors is very kid friendly. The colors of the blanket I am making are purple, pink, blue, and white. (Progress picture coming soon)
I had a piano recitle on Sunday. I did really bad. I repeated this one part of the song 3 times instead of 2 and made some silly mistakes throughout it. The only thing that kept me from cying on the way home was that an older man came up to me and said that his grandson loved my song and that I did a very good job. When he said that I couldn't help but smile. Even though people may not realize it but comments like that can really make your day a whole lot better. If that person is reading this right now I would just like to say Thank You.!.
That is about all that has happened here. Nothing else really exciting has been happening.

What a Beautiful Weekend!

To start off I'd like to say that this has to be the most beautifel weekend this year. We had clear blue skys. It was in the 60's and the trees just started to turn!!! I am sad that my long weekend is almost over. Here are some pictures I took while I was rideing my bike around...

It has gotten almost double it size it was before!!! It is hard to do the same thing for a long period of time.

I also went to visit my sister in College. When I went shopping with her we dropped into the Coach store and they were having a HUGE sale!!! I got a Coach wristlet that was originally for $100 for $30!!!

I managed to finish a lot of stuff this week even though they pilled the homework on us, HARD. Well to start off I will post the pictures of the objects that I finished last week...which were all cellphone cases, here are pictures of the ones that I could find

This one was made of a dark blue yarn and a light blue fun fur yarn. I also crocheted a simple hat. I really like the way it turned out..

I was also able to finish a quilt that I started in the summer. It has a tribal theme to it.

What a Great Day!!

This weekend I scored my first goal of the season. I am very proud of myself because I am not very good at forward. I am more a defensive player. Yesturday was a very good day to play soccer. There was a nice breeze out and it was llike 70 degrees out. Right after the game me and my family went out to see a movie. We saw "Ghost Town". It was fairly good. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. And of course I knittied in the movie theater while I watched it. I am working on my 4th cell phone case. i really like the pattern and how it takes me less than a day to make one. i'll show you some pictures of the ones that i finished next time. I want to make something else, using crochet, I was thinking maybe a pair of gloves or some sort of toy. HA!!! How about a halloween decoration!!! Maybe I'll crochet a pumpkin! I am going to look on Ravelry right now.....

Rain, Rain, Go AWAY, Come Back Another Day!!!

OMG!!! We must of had a least 12 inches of rain from hurricane Ike!!! I was stuck inside and about ready to scream and destroy everything that was around me!! Our street got so flooded in front of my house that we couldn't drive out of it!!! I thought I was gona go mad!! I took some pictures of the rain storm.... here they are....

Mittens!!!!

I am happy to say that I finished my first pair of mittens!!! I decided to make them once I noticied that it was starting to get a little could outside, and my hands started to get could while waiting for the bus to come. I got the pattern out of one of my mom's old knitting magazines. It is dated 1989!!!! It is a simple pair of mittens with a cable going down the middle and garter stitch in the backround. What really subprised me was how they fit me really well!!! Here are some pictures of them....

Sorry about the backrounds. I couldn't think of anywhere else to photgraph them. I really liked the yarn I used. It was a wool/cotton blend and is very warm and cozy!! I donn't know if you can tell but the yarn is green and brown colored.

Nothing else really happend. I started school about 2 weeks ago, I like all of my teachers. They seem really nice. I was planning on posting pictures of all of my projects I finished over the summer, but I don't have time to take pictures of all of them and post them. I might do it over Christmas break.

More projects Finished!!

I just finished crocheting a scarf and 2 hats. I am planing to give them away for Christmas presents. I also made a baby hat for my neighboors 1 year old birthday party. I really like it and it took me less than a day to make it!! The scarf I made used some really fluffy bulky yarn and ened up being about 5 feet long and 1 foot wide. That took me 2 days to crochet. I will post pictures of all of my finished projects at the end of my summer vacation.
Today I trimmed my guinea pig's nails. It was not fun. She would run away when she felt the pressure of the nail clippers pushing on her nail. The only way I got her to keep still was by letting her eat a carrot while i clipped her nails. It took me about an our to clip them!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in over a month.... it is just I have been so busy with vacations and camps that I have had no time to blog!!! Well to start off California was a lot of fun!!! My family and I went to the beach everyday!! I got really babdly sunburned. I collected a TON of sea glass. In all of these different colors!!! We saw dolphins swimming in the ocean one morning!! It was awesome!! The airplane rides went really smothly. We did have some turbulence both ways but we were expecting that. My uncle and I went to a dog beach!! We let the thier 2 dogs off the lead and they ran right twords the water!! I have some pictures....

I made 2 more of those purses from my happy hooker crochet book. I also made the fit to be tied from thier too. I made a hat that has a huge flower on the side too!!! I also made a baby hat for a party that I am going to next week. I have made a lot of things this summer!!! It sounds like alot more when you write them alll down!!!!

I also went to this camp at our local zoo!!! It was so much fun!!! The main topic was conservation! So we learned about how to help the enviornment and what not!!! I also learned that our zoo got a recomendation to breed our snow leopards and lions!!! I am so excited!!!

I have gotten a lot done lately!!!! I made this purse from my Happy Hooker book.....

I am really happy about the way it turned out!!! I like the black handles with the blue body!!

Here is what the inside looks like!! I couldn't get a good close-up picture because of how dark the fabric is.

Nothing else exciting happened. I have just been packing for my vacation to California. We are only doing carry-on because it is much faster and costs less (because of that stupid fee).

I went to Canada to see my grandparents and cousins. I had a lot of fun and met some of my new cousins. The trip was fun but it was a 20 hour drive their and 18 drive back!!!! My dad does not like to fly so we have to drive to our designated vacation spot. We split the driving into two days. about 10 hours each day. I mostly crocheted and slept during the car ride ( My dad made us leave and 6 in the morning!) While Sitting in the car I made an Ipod cozie and a bunch of Heart Squares that I will soon sew together and make a baby blanket. Unfortunently I can not find my camera so I will show you them later.

I purchased the book Stitch'n Bitch Crochet The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stroller!!!! I love this book!! It is very well written and is detailled on it's directions. It also had great pictures and drawings. This book is great for begginers and professionals.

I am making a purse out of this book. It is called Fat-bottom bag. It has a rounded rectangle shape to in and has hoops for handles. I love it am about halfway through it on the 3rd day!!! The yarn I am using is Sugar and Cream Confectionary colors, in Pistachio. The yarn is made of 100% cotton. I really like the color and the handle bars are a tan color and they are made out of wood.
